Finally last weekend, I was in the mood for a novel with a virgin romance author trope and dove in.I really liked the cover and how it tied in well to the story. I also loved all the 'what it’s like to be an indie writer' details. Nicole Blake (or N.S. Blake to her readers) was living her dream as a young professional independent historical romance author while still in college pursuing a formal degree. She was one of the lucky ones and could let her degree be a fall back if she needed to give teaching a try someday. Her relationship with her bestie Olivia was odd language-wise but based on love and a professional partnership that was lucrative for them both.
Olivia, who did double duty as her book cover designer/photographer, interrupted Nicole one day while she was on a writing roll and begged her to come down to the latest photoshoot without delay. Why the urgency though? I missed why really. I questioned it in the moment and probably should have reread to make sure I understood it. But I was too lazy to do so and what came out of that was Nicole being introduced to medical school student Alec Petropoulos.
Now Nicole had a sinfully sexy male candidate for help eliminating her pesky V-card. Only Alec put the brakes on her plan (for his own very valid reasons) once she admitted her virgin status. He suggested they be friends only. Understandably her ego got bruised badly, but I could see the wisdom in them getting to know each other a bit before heating things up again. The drama and humor as they worked together doing book signing events was entertaining although not quite what I had in mind when I picked this story for my Sunday reading pleasure.
My favorite quote that summed their journey up well:
‘We had everything a good romance story needed – a rocky beginning, a slow build to a budding relationship several hurdles to overcome, and finally, a happily ever after’ ~Nicole
Next up in this series:
Yes, there is a sequel entitled Writing a Wrong (Write Stuff, #2). However, I don’t feel a sense of urgency to read it yet since I don’t already own it. This is why I normally wait to collect an entire series before diving in so I don’t have to think guiltily about whether or not I should read a book from my collection or buy this new book.
But also, I feel that this first novel really can be read and enjoyed as a standalone novel for now. I will probably read the sequel someday when I’m in the mood to see how Nicole and Alec navigated their new life together as a permanent couple and also for an update on Olivia. I’m hoping Olivia gave Taylor, whom she dumped when things were getting serious on his part, another chance to prove to her he is the One.

The Write Stuff A Write Stuff Novel Book 1 eBook Tiffany King Reviews
This week I read The Write Stuff by Tiffany King and I am excited to tell you all about it. First of all, I loved this book! I loved the characters, the plot and the settings. Nicole, the female protagonist is awesome. She is living one of my dreams as a romance writer so I became an instant fan of hers. Her friend Olivia who shoots covers for her books is the type of friend every woman needs to have. She is real, honest, funny and proves to be a fantastic friend. Nicole meets the latest cover model for her upcoming book. Whoa…. He blew me away. Alec Petropoulos is oh so yummy. There is so much more to this delicious man than good looks. I enjoyed discovering all about him in this book.
There are so many relatable scenes for me in this book that I had a hard time putting it down. As a blogger, I pictured myself at the book signings interacting with the authors and other bloggers. Having been to Book Bash in Orlando, your story came to life. As a lover of romance, your book had it all. There were deliciously written sex scenes, love, angst, brilliant symbolism, light hearted humor and of course, Alec, the hottie. So yes, as a lover of eye candy and sexy cover models, Alec totally did it for me. He is a total package!
I am also a Floridian so I enjoyed experiencing the story in places I’ve been to. The Florida heat, I absolutely get that too.
Finally, this adorably written love story unfolded before my very eyes. You mentioned submersion into a story, well that is exactly what happened to me. I enjoyed reading/living out the story in my mind.
If you are looking for a fun sexy read, I recommend The Write Stuff by Tiffany King. The Write Stuff is the first book I've read by Tiffany and I look forward to reading more of her work.

I was ready to pre-order this book on the simple fact that it was by Tiffany King alone. But once I started reading the blurb I got through the the first line only, Nicole is not only a historical romance author but she also happens to be a virgin? Sold. Nope, I don't need to read any further because this book was just screaming fun and sexy read. And Tiffany King delivers those things and more. No joke, I inhaled this one. Once I cracked it open there was no chance of stopping to breathe much less eat, sleep or any of those other things a functioning human does. One hour turned into two which turned into four which turned into me finishing the book with a happy little sigh and a huge grin.
--It was all fun and games until my next book, when I would write her in as a character and kill her off by dropping a meteor on her head.
I love main characters like Nicole Blake. She's a bit awkward and a bit of an introvert at times. Though I feel like the best thing about Nicole is she is absolutely hilarious. She was very real and in a lot of ways I could see bits of myself at that age in her. She's a very relatable character. It was a lot of fun to watch her start to break out of her shell and put herself out there more. Be bold instead of hiding in her apartment behind her keyboard.
--I'm sure an outsider listening to one of our conversations would seriously question our friendship. Words like whore and slutbag were regular terms of endearment for us.
Nicole's best friend Olivia was just as fun as she was. I loved the friendship these two had. The way they interact with each other is just so me. I would totally be friends with either of them in real life. Olivia is also quite the meddler though which is always fun to read. I would crack up whenever she'd instigate a situation and then just never quite look Nicole in the eye out of guilt or trying to pretend she had no idea what was going on around her.
--I would have been lying if I said having Alec playing the role of knight in shining armor was unpleasant in the slightest.
Alec Petropoulos. That guy. When I wasn't wanting to do things to him that I should never, ever mention in public, I wanted to smack the crap out of him. I think I even had a status update on Goodreads that just said "Ass (" Alec isn't perfect. He makes mistakes and I wanted to stay mad at him. I really tried. Once he would explain the reasoning behind the choices he's made I'd get it though. I still wanted to smack him and tell him that he was being an idiot and should have taken chances anyway, just because something turned out bad once doesn't mean it will again. Frustrating, yes, but I still love the guy.
--It was time to put Operation Seduction into play.
Oh. My. Word. Tiffany King can write the hell out of a steamy scene. The chemistry between Nicole and Alec is explosive. I've read books before where the virgin main character decides it's time to get rid of her V-card and quite frankly it's all just been a big trashy mess. This one is sweet and quirky and hilarious and very sexy. Instant favorite and I feel like everyone would enjoy this. People who are afraid of NA or haven't read any good NA in the past? This is the book for you!
